Ukrainian Sheriffs and A Family Affair AWARDED AT IDFA

On Wednesday 25th evening, the IDFA 2015 Awards were given in Amsterdam. Two of the six DOK.Incubator films in the program were awarded.
The Special Jury Award in the main, feature-length competition (€2,500) went to “Ukrainian Sheriffs” by Roman Bondarchuk. A tragicomic story of a rural village in southern Ukraine, where a sheriff duo Viktor and Volodya has to solve crimes such as the theft of two ducks. But the country changes and when the time to celebrate the country’s 70th Independence Day comes, the men of the village are drafted into the army…
A Family Affair (NL, BE, DK) was awarded by the IDFA Special Jury Award for Dutch Documentary.The director Tom Fassaert tells an intimate, yet dramatic story of his own family, unfolding from the moment he’s gone to South Africa to visit his grandmother, a family myth and a famme-fatale Marianne.
