Four DOK.Incubator films at IDFA 2016

Four DOK.Incubator projects, three from this years’ workshop and one from 2015, will premiere at IDFA in November, bringing the total of our films competing at the Dutch film festival to 16 out of 40 since DOK.Incubator’s creation in 2011.

Festival-goers will be introduced to Ivan, The Good Postman /FI, BG/, who has a vision. If he becomes mayor of his dying Bulgarian village, they will be saved – by welcoming refugees. The film will compete for Feature-Length Documentary, alongside fellow DOK.Incubator 2016 project: Burning Out /BE, FR, CH/ follows the staff of a famous Parisian hospital, where the employees are undervalued, overworked, imposed stringent efficiency and productivity targets by the management, and on the verge of burning out.

Our final project from 2016 is a fascinating exploration of real female sexuality, as the two directors of Venus /DK, NO/ create a space for an intimate conversation about desire, lust, fantasy, shame and sexual freedom among young women. The film will feature in the IDFA Competition for First Appearance, where it will meet 2015 DOK Incubator project Amazona /CO/, following the journey of a mother and daughter to the Amazon to confront and heal the wounds inflicted by the past.

IDFA runs from November 16th to 27th.
