The selection process is divided into two rounds. In the first round every project will be seen and judged by at least two of our selectors. They evaluate and score the material (filmic quality of the footage, filmmaker’s access to the main character, unique point of view, etc). The 15 projects with the highest score go to the second round of the selection.
These 15 will then be evaluated by the dok.incubator board, composed of the tutors for that year’s workshop: the director of the programme, a producer, an editor, and a sales agent/festival representative. In this round we will pay close attention to the phase of development of your project, as well as to the whole team behind the project (background, experience, motivations and goals). Each participant plays an equal role in the workshop, whether it is director, producer or editor.
The top 15 projects selected for the second round might be invited to a Skype interview or be asked to provide additional materials. Those who applied with edited scenes rather than a rough-cut will be asked for an update on the progress of the projects at the end of February. Please note that the dok.incubator board will also consider the scholarship applications and may ask for more details on the financing of the film.
We will inform the applicants about the selection results via email before by the end of March, when the final top 8 projects selected for dok.incubator workshop will be officially announced.
