In Hasankeyf, an ancient town nestled in southeastern Anatolia, a tapestry of Kurdish and Arab cultures has existed for generations. Yet, this harmonious existence faces an abrupt upheaval with the Turkish government's push to complete the construction of the Ilisu Dam along the Tigris River. Under the guise of progress and modernization, residents are ordered to sell their animals and move to large settlements consisting of identical concrete single-family houses. The upheavals are extensive, and the two protagonists, the Kurdish shepherdess Rengin and the Arab barber Burak, struggle to adapt. Each of them is facing life-altering changes. Can they hold onto their respective identities amidst this tumultuous transition, or will they become part of a brand new world?
