Afsaneh works as a documentary film director, editor, producer, and creative consultant between Paris and Tehran. She has a BA in film editing from the Art University of Tehran, holds a Master’s degree in Creative Directing and Cinematography from the University of Paris 8 in France, and has a Master of Documentary Directing from Docnomads joint masters. She’s an alumnus of the La Femis documentary course, Berlinale Talents, and IDFA Academy. She also collaborates with Ateliers Varan in France as an editing coach. The first film she produced with Afghan filmmaker Hasan Noori, The Forbidden Strings | تارهای ممنوعه premiered at IDFA 2019. And her first debut feature The Silhouettes won Jury Special Mention for Best film in Visions du Réel 2020. Her last film as director and editor was produced in close collaboration with Wim Wenders and Wim Wenders foundation and premiered at CPH DOX 2023.
