András Földes (1971) is a Hungarian documentary filmmaker and journalist with over 23 years of experience. As a former foreign correspondent for Index.hu, Hungary’s largest independent news site, he specialized in covering humanitarian crises, migration, and war zones, reporting from Afghanistan, Ukraine, Niger, and beyond. Following the politically motivated dismantling of Index.hu, he became a founding journalist of Telex.hu before continuing his work at HVG.hu. Földes has received multiple awards for his investigative journalism and video reporting, including the Pulitzer Memorial Prize (2018), the Hégető Honorka Prize (2019, 2020), and the Minority Rights Group Development Journalism Award (2019, 2020, 2021). His instinct to document high-stakes moments led him to turn his camera on his own newsroom when Index.hu collapsed, making 80 Angry Journalists his most personal film to date.
