Dana Sabitova is a producer and documentary film popularizer from Kazakhstan. With experience as a festival organizer, mentor, editor, and post-production producer, Dana believes in the need for educational programs and international festivals to develop Central Asian film production. Her feature documentaries River Dreams and Burning Land are currently in production, both directed by women. The main focus of her career now is to develop a strategy for fair co-production between Central Asian and international producers, where the vivid and artistically rich stories from her homeland can finally be made. With this intention in mind, she participated in EURODOC, IDFAcademy, DOK Leipzig Co-Pro Market, etc. Dana not only runs a production company, but also co-founded a grassroots initiative Women make docs. Established two years ago, Women make docs achievements include premiere screenings of three Kazakh documentaries and screenings of world documentary hits to Kazakh audiences and online sessions introducing Central Asian filmmakers to international documentary organizations.
