Juyeon Yang is a documentary filmmaker based in South Korea. She majored in Broadcasting undergraduate degree and Women’s studies at graduate school. She is interested in how women are portrayed or omitted in Korean society. Her film, 'The Trail of Grandma’s Home'(2015), is about the memory of the May 18th Democratic Uprising in 1980. It won multiple awards: the Grand Prix and the Special Jury Prize at the 2nd Saram-Sesang Film Festival; the Grand Prize at the 13th Asiana International Short Film Festival. The newest 'My Missing Aunt' is YANG’s first feature documentary. It was selected at the 2019 DOK Leipzig Co-Promarket and the 2019 IDFAcademy. At the DOK Leipzig, it also earned Honourable Mention for the Best Female Director of the Saxon State Minister for the Arts.
