Bruno Federico is an Emmy and Peabody Award-winning Italian filmmaker and cinematographer based in NYC, after a decade in Colombia. He regularly works as a director of photography for Foreign Correspondent, the international documentary strand of Australia’s ABC, and SBS’s (Australia) documentary program Dateline. He was also a co-producer and the director of photography for The Confession, a documentary for Al Jazeera’s Fault Lines investigative documentary program, honored with the One World Media Award and nominated for an Emmy in 2024.. Bruno’s films focus on social, labor, and environmental conflicts, usually intertwined with Colombia’s war. They include ‘El Gigante’ (The Giant, 2012), which received special mentions at the Human Rights Film Festival in Naples and Ecozine, Spain, and ‘Apuntando al Corazón’ (Striking at the Heart, 2013), an investigation into the use of military propaganda in Colombia’s war. He and Nadja are multiple grantees of the Pulitzer Center.
