The director Laurent Lichtenstein, passionate about astrophysics and earth sciences from a very young age, studied geology at the University of Pierre and Marie Curie in Paris. In parallel, he began working as an editor for the nightly news of the main French channel (TF1). Laurent continues to write and direct documentaries combining his two passions: science and travel. He has notably directed 9 documentaries in the last 5 years for the prime time science slot of the national channel F5 (equivalents of PBS). His approach is to make the audience experience "The Joy of Science" and help propagate simple concepts that provide keys to understanding the world around us. But above all, he seeks to tell great stories and showcase positive humans driven by their quests for knowledge. In his documentaries he also seeks to raise audience awareness about preserving our common spaceship: Earth, with films like "Is Earth Unique?". In September 2022, Laurent discovered the creative potential of generative artificial intelligence and began experimenting with iterative workflows, embracing the concept of creative ping-pong. From that moment, AI has become an integral tool in developing his artistic universes, allowing him to iterate quickly on ideas and push the boundaries of visual storytelling. He uses AI-generated images to illustrate his projects and share his visions with producers and broadcasters, ensuring a clear and immersive presentation of his concepts.
